Meet Our Providers

William F. Baker, Jr., MD, FACP
Board Certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Baker received his M.D. degree from the University of California at Irvine in 1975. He graduated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, National Medical Honors Society. Dr. Baker completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine and became Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1978. He entered private practice in Bakersfield, California in 1978 and became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1994.

Dr. Baker is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the previous Chief of Staff and Chief of Medicine at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. He is currently the Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, where he also received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Baker has specialized in the management of patients with complex medical problems, including Thrombosis, Hemostasis, and Vascular Medicine. He is also an experienced author and editor in his field, publishing over 30 article and book chapters.

Dr. Baker enjoys fly fishing and running marathons. He adores his 8 grandchildren and cherishes the time that he and his wife get to spend with them. He has been the BC Football team doctor since 1978 and enjoys going to all of the games. Dr. Baker is a member of the BC Alumni "Herb Loken" Hall of Fame and he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bakersfield College Foundation.

Janice Knowlton, PA-C
Internal Medicine

Janice Knowlton received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Cuesta College and California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Janice received her P.A. degree from Stanford University in 1988. In the same year, she completed her Radiology License at the Central Coast California School of Radiology. Janice was the President of the Kern County Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant Association from 1993 to 2001. She received the Award of Physician Assistant of the Year in 1998 for the State of California from the California Associate of Physician Assistants and for Kern County. Janice began her medical career in family practice medicine and has been enjoying her work in Internal Medicine since 1991.

Janice enjoys watching football and baseball with her husband, as well as discussions of their readings from their large library. She has traveled to many countries and biked across Western Europe and Great Britain. Janice enjoys working out at the gym, swimming, skiing and scuba diving.

Rowena Velasquez-Ventayen, MD
Board Certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Velasquez-Ventayen is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She is from the Philippines and graduated from medical school at University of Santo Tomas. Dr. Velasquez-Ventayen received her Internal Medicine training at State University of New York in Buffalo, leading to Board Certification in 1998. She has a reputation as a very thorough and highly skilled physician. Reflecting her strong personal values, she is a caring and compassionate physician.

Dr. Velasquez-Ventayen is married with three beautiful children. She enjoys spending time with her family and is actively involved with her church. Dr. Velasquez-Ventayen also loves spending time reading, writing and playing the piano.

Patrick D. Daley, MD, FAAFP
Board Certified in Family Practice

Dr. Daley received his medical degree from the University of Washington in 1976. He completed his residency in Family Practice at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, CA in 1979 and became Board Certified in Family Practice in 1979 and Sports Medicine in 1994. Dr. Daley became a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice in 1982. Dr. Daley started his private practice in Bakersfield, CA in 1980. He had a brief stint in Ojai, CA, but decided to come back to Bakersfield in August 2011 and join our practice. Dr. Daley has been an Associate Clinical Professor in Family Medicine for the University of California, Irvine since 2005 and in 2003 he was elected the President of the Kern County Medical Society.

Dr. Daley and his wife enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. Dr. Daley also enjoys bicycling, long distance running, martial arts and surfing.
